NAVARATRI OCT. 15 TO 23

This year  Navratri during the winter falls on October 15 – October 23, 2012 in all states in the US.

Navratri is an extremely important festival and occasion signifying nine nights of the Goddess. The word Nav means nine while Ratri is Night. This is an important period where one aims to cleanse his tamas guna by fasting, prayer, mantra and fire rituals. The first three days 15,16,17 will be dedicated to Goddess Durga, the second three days to Goddess Lakshmi, 17,18,19 and the last three 20,21 and 22 to Goddess Saraswati. The Ram Navami will be celebrated on the 22nd as well. Dashera, signifying and symbolizing the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana will be celebrated on the 10th day which is the 23rd of October, 2012.
